At MHLS we realise that not all students want to complete all of the streams listed for CGEA. In response to this, we have also packed the Certificate in General Education for Adults into small program options which have a specific focus.
These programs introduce clients to skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing plus areas of Grammar, Pronunciation and Vocabulary.

- Introduction to Business English
Business topics for workplace purposes such as report writing, letters and resumes, presentations, telephoning and participating in meetings.
On successful completion of these programs, you will receive relevant units from the Certificates in Business or Retail Operations.
| Numeracy & Mathematics | ![]() |
You can enrol in individual units to develop your basic skills & confidence in Maths. These are gently paced classes with topics to suit student’s needs.
- Basic Maths
Then this course is for you.
It’s a gentle introduction to useful maths including basic skills, the metric system and using a calculator.
- Bridging Mathematics
Students must pass a test in each topic area before proceeding to the next topic. If the student does not do well in any given test, problem areas are revised and the student is tested again.

Prepare for tertiary study covering essay writing, listening to lectures, reading authentic texts, giving oral presentations and participating in tutorials.
On successful completion of these programs, you will receive relevant modules of the Certificates in General Education for Adults (CGEA).
