Participants who are not currently working as a teacher aide, will need to arrange a placement in an educational setting for 5 days to successfully complete the practical components of the course.

- Who is this course for?
While open to those already working in an educational setting, supporting students with a range of special needs in the classroom, this course is designed for people not yet working in an educational setting but who wish to do so.
- Who can do this course?
There are no prerequisite requirements to undertake this course. However it is assumed that participants will have a functional level of literacy equivalent to Level 2 or a year 12 standard.
The trainers for this course are Amy Baillie and Roberta Scicluna. They have had extensive experience in supporting students with special needs in the classroom.
There is NO government subsidy for this course. Course fees and charges are reviewed annually.
All participants will need -
- a notebook and pen
- an A4 ring binder (or equivalent for holding handouts etc)
- a USB stick
Tea and Coffee will be provided. Please feel free to bring snacks to class.
There are no formal entrance requirements. Applicants are expected to have language and literacy skills equivalent to Level 2 and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 1 of the Certificate of General Education for Adults to enable them to complete most courses.
Courses are designed for -
- Adults with busy lives
- People who have been absent from the workforce for a time
- People wishing to refresh or acquire new skills
- People from non English speaking backgrounds
- People leaving secondary school (in particular early school leavers)
Come to the office between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday to Friday fill in an enrolment form, alternatively, call 9301 9200 and ask for an enrolment form to be posted, faxed or emailed, and return it with your payment.
