Certificate and Selected Individual Unit programs in Business have now been updated in accordance with new NTIS codes. There will be no new enrolments in the previous programs. All new enrolments will be in the updated programs listed below:

Duration: Full-time or part-time.

Students enrolled in the program progress through the Certificate levels as part of their studies. Upon successful completion of appropriate competency standards students may exit at any Certificate level. Classes are normally held during the day. Work experience is a part of the program.
These programs are also offered as Traineeships.

Career Prospects
People employed in the administration area usually assist professionals, managers and executives by providing a range of administrative and clerical services.
After industry experience has been gained, graduates of the Diploma of Business Administration may occupy the following positions: secretary; administrative assistant; personal assistant; receptionist; office supervisor; and personal administrator.

 

 

 

Certificate I in Business
BSB10101

This qualification allows individuals to develop basic skills and knowledge to prepare for work.

Job Roles

Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. This is an entry level qualification.

How will I be selected for this course?

All applicants will need to do a comprehension test and be interviewed by our tutors to assess your basic literacy and numeracy skills and suitability for the course. Opportunities of employment in this area generally require normal vision and manual dexterity.

How long is the course?

Students attend classes for two terms.

Prerequisite requirements

There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.

Pathways into the qualification

As the focus of the Certificate I is preparation for entry into work, it is expected that individuals may enter the qualification through a number of entry points including:

  • beginning a career
  • participating in a VET in Schools Program
  • after achieving a Certificate I qualification in a Training Package other than Business Services
  • seeking a career transition with vocational experience in industries or environments outside of Business Services

Pathways from the qualification

After achieving the BSB10107 Certificate I in Business, candidates may undertake the BSB20107 Certificate II in Business, a qualification for those seeking to develop further practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge for working in a range of business environments, or other relevant Certificate II qualifications.

Licensing, Legislative, Regulatory or Certification Considerations

There is no direct link between this qualification and licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of mainly routine tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge in a defined context working under direct supervision.

  • with limited vocational experience assisting in a range of work settings, without a formal business qualification.

After achieving the BSB20107 Certificate II in Business, candidates may undertake the BSB30407 Certificate III in Business Administration, a qualification for those seeking to develop more specialised technical skills and knowledge for working in a range of business environments, or a range of other Certificate III qualifications.
